CRW 210 Creative Writing Portfolio Credits: (3) This course offers students the opportunity to revise previous creative writing coursework into polished literary pieces in poetry, fiction, play/screenwriting, or creative nonfiction ready for inclusion in an academic/professional portfolio or for publication. Furthermore, it teaches student writers basic practices for submitting their written pieces to a variety of publishers, contests, and agents. Additionally, students will learn about marketing and promoting their work and skills, and they will explore writing-based careers and professional opportunities. An internship may be completed as part of the class. Prerequisite(s): ENG 103 and CRW 103 , or permission of instructor.

- Revise previous creative writing coursework into polished literary pieces in order to produce an academic/professional portfolio based on individual student’s goals and needs.
- Identify and employ current practices and submission processes for publishing, contests, and agents.
- Identify and evaluate professional opportunities for writers.
- Create an individualized academic/professional marketing plan based on the students’ transfer or professional goals.
