CRW 204 Creative Writing Workshop-Digital Storytelling

Credits: (3)
A writing-intensive workshop designed for students interested in advancing their skills in creating narratives for interactive digital entertainment media. Emphasis is on exploring different approaches to writing stories for interactive digital entertainment and on drafting, workshopping, and revising original pieces. Prerequisite(s): CRW 103  or ENG 103 , or permission of instructor.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Assess and evaluate contemporary aesthetic choices in original pieces based on existing professional models.
  2. Compose drafts in multiple forms for interactive digital media, using and experimenting with elements such as narrative structure (plot), narration techniques (voice and point of view), character, dialogue, and setting.
  3. Revise original stories, including changes in language, structure, and characterization.
  4. Formulate constructive feedback in workshop settings that shows critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Identify and use appropriate tools and approaches for pursuing professional opportunities in writing and editing content for digital media.
